A relaxing three days cruise along Brahmaputra discovering the fascinating State of Assam, safari in the parks of Kaziranga and Orang in search of the great one horned Indian rhino. Visit at the vibe of Kolkata and the Orissa Golden Triangle that will include the holy city of Bhubaneswar, the sun temple of Konark and Puri, one of the four cities more sacre cities of Hinduism (Char Dham).


Tour Itinerary

Day 01

USA – DELHI
Departure from Italy with a flight to Delhi. On arrival you will be met by a Surya representative that will assist and will lead to your hotel. Overnight.

Day 02

DELHI - GUWAHATI

Transfer to Delhi airport to board on the flight towards Guwahati. Welcoming meeting at Guwahati and short visit at the city. Drive up Nilachal Hill to see the holy Kamakhya temple. With its tantric rites and animal sacrifice, the more squeamish may prefer to content themselves with the exterior. Visit the poignant Commonwealth War Graves cemetery before embarking on your cruise vessel. We set sail and cruise for about an hour and a half upstream to Kurua on the north bank. Full board.

Day 03

SAILING ON BRAHMAPUTRA (GANESH PAHAR)

The day is spent cruising upstream, with hills rising on either side. Battling against strong currents, we reach an idyllic stop at Ganesh Pahar, where we can explore a delightfully serene hinterland lying under jungle-covered slopes. Full board.

Day 04

SAILING ON BRAHMAPUTRA (BANKSIDE VILLAGE)
Leaving the hills behind, we enjoy our first taste of the wilderness experience, sand banks like icebergs on either side. We may make a short stop to visit a bankside village, creating a sensation as we do. We moor for the night in a lunar landscape of sand islands, with hopefully the Himalayas in view and providing a contrasting backdrop in the distance. Full board.

Day 05

SAILING ON BRAHMAPUTRA – ORANG NP - KAZIRANGA NP

Rising early, we take to our country boat for a cruise up a side stream into the Orang National Park. Here in this rarely visited park we mount elephants or take jeeps and ride through forest and grassland looking for rhino, deer and other wildlife. Desembark from the boat and transfer to Kaziranga NP. Dinner and overnight.

Day 06

KAZIRANGA NP – JORHAT – MAJULI ISLAND

Early in the morning elephant back safari and then proceed to Jorhat and cross the Brahmaputra river to reach Majuli island supposedly the world’s largest river island, and possessing unique Assamese neo-Viashnavite culture displayed in the monasteries (Xatras) also famed for their dance-drama. During the stay in Majuli there will be the time to appreciate the sheer beauty of the island. Dinner and overnight will in the enchanted peace of Majuli.

Day 07

MAJULI ISLAND – JORHAT – KOLKATA

Morning transfer at Jorhat airport for the flight to Kolkata (via Guwahati). On arrival transfer at hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 08

KOLKATA

The visit to the “city of joy” include the interesting Victoria Memorial hall, Saint Paul cathedral, the colonial district of BBD Bagh, formerly Dalhousie Square, the Old Court House Street and Fort Williams. The colorful flower market Mullik Ghat, from where it’s possible to see the famous Howrah Bridge on the Hoogly river, which is said to be the busiest bridge in the world.. The visit will finish at sculptor’s area of Kumartuli where are manufacted the gigantic ceremonial statues which are used for religious events. Dinner and overnight.

Day 09

KOLKATA – FLIGHT – BHUBANESWAR

Morning flight to Bhubaneswar. The capital of the Indian state of Orissa, is an important holy city of India and one of the most famous historical cities. Bhubaneswar is a fascinating blend of art, architecture and ancient culture. The visit include the temple of Mukteshwar, Ranjarani, Parsurameswar and the Udayagiri caves. The famous Lingaraj temple, dedicated to Harihara, one of the names of Shiva, is not accessible to non-Hindus, but you can have a glimpse to its interior from a platform. Dinner and overnight.

Day 10

BHUBANESWAR – HIRAPUR - PIPLI – RAGHURAJPURI - PURI

Morning transfer towards Puri, visiting, along the way, the yogini temple at Hirapur and at Pipli village, typical for the appliqué, a decoration technique similar to the patchwork and at the village of Raghurajpuri with its crafts. Arrival at Puri. Dinner and overnight.

Day 11

PURI

The visit of Puri purposed the famous Jagannatha temple (from the outside as it’s not accessibile to non-Hindus), the Shankaracharya Ashram, the sacred well of Narendraand the bazar. Afternoon free to stroll along the beach or personal activities. Dinner and overnight.

Day 12

PURI – BHUBANESHWAR – DELHI

Return at Bhubaneswar in time for the flight back to Delhi. On arrival transfer at hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 13

DELHI SIGHTSEEING

The visit to the country's capital will include the Raj Ghat (Mahatma Gandhi's place of cremation), Chandni Chowk bazar, the Jama Masjid mosque (the largest in India: it can contain more than 25,000 people), the Gate of India, the Presidential Palace and Government buildings (from outside), the huge Humayun tomb and the Qutub Minar complex. Dinner and overnight.

Day 14

DELHI – USA

Transfer to airport in time for the flight back to USA.
